July Events at the Library

July 10th: Mr. K (Kurt Valenta) presents “Owl: Silent Predator of the Night.” 10:00 am. At the Montgomery summer day camp/Montgomery Rec Field. Free.

July 13th: “History of Beads around the World” 7:00 pm. Throughout the ages, beads have been decorative and useful, but they also tell a story about their maker and the culture from which they come. Ruth Walzer Shine, avid bead collector since childhood, owner of a bead store for 35 years, will present slides, tales of beads, and actual beads—including 1,000-year-old pre-Columbian beads!  In the PSB room (the room next to the library in the Public Safety Building). Refreshments.  Free.

July 16th“Sleeping Beauty” 1:30 pm.* Montgomery Town Hall/Grange (on Main Street near Lutz’s Auto). “Summer Encore Theatre,” an auditioned Rutland drama troupe composed of students aged 12- 18, will present their creative version of the original story written by Charles Perrault. Great family entertainment! Refreshing beverage. Free.

July 27th: “4th Annual Wine & Cheese Reception and Silent Auction” 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Phineas Swann Bed & Breakfast. Fabulous local and regional items to bid on. Come support the library! Suggested donation: $12/person or $20/couple. Complimentary entrance for donors of auction items.

Thursdays,  “Infant & Toddler Playgroup” at the library. 10 – 11:30 am. Young children and caregivers get together to enjoy each other’s company in the air- conditioned library and/or out on the library playground. Also Thursdays, starting ~10:15 (once enough people have arrived): “Story/song/wiggle Time for Infants & Toddlers.” In the library. Older siblings welcome, too.
