The Namesake
by Jhumpa Lahiri

A Bengali couple immigrate to the United States and have a son, Gogol, who is named after his father’s favorite author (a Russian writer). When Gogol hits his teen and young adult years, he struggles with his odd birth name, his heritage, and his parents’ expectations, and is beset by “conflicting loyalties, comic detours, and wrenching love affairs” in this journey of assimilation and personal identity.

Bliss

A serial killer goes to prison for her murder. Eight years later, David receives a mysterious email that includes a phrase known only to him and Elizabeth. Two more bodies are discovered, and the evidence implicates David. (film in French)

    I’m looking forward to reading all of these books. I can, hopefully, get to some of the screenings especially the pot lucks!!!
